From 2001 to 2006, I was working within the European Communications Research of Motorola in Paris (France). I was the Technical Manager of the End-to-End Reconfigurability (E2R) Project, European research project coordinated by Motorola.

In 2006, I joined T-Mobile International (Deutsche Telekom) as a project manager in the Mobile Messaging area in Vienna then relocated to T-Mobile's Headquarters in Bonn in November 2007 and joined the Project Management division as a Senior International Project Manager at start then as an International Program Manager in January 2009. In November 2009, I joined the "International Businesses" division of Deutsche Telekom as a Senior International Partnership Development Manager. I'm currently looking for new growth segments for T-Mobile and Deutsche Telekom.

Meanwhile, in September 2008, I started the Kellogg-WHU Executive MBA program jointly offered by the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University (USA) and the WHU - Otto Beisheim School of Management (Germany). I'll graduate in October 2010.

  END-TO-END RECONFIGURABILITY (E2R) RESEARCH PROJECT @ MOTOROLA

The End-to-End Reconfigurability (E2R) research project objectives are to bring the full benefits of the valuable diversity within the radio eco-space, composed of a wide range of systems (such as cellular, wireless local area and broadcast), and to devise, develop and trial architectural design of reconfigurable devices and supporting system functions to offer an expanded set of operational choices to the different actors of the value chain in the context of heterogeneous mobile radio systems. The E2R project will help operators to better exploit their investments on infrastructures and terminals and should ensure that the infrastructure will be flexible and reconfigurable to accommodate evolving standards, applications and the end-user needs. E2R is seen by many actors of the wireless industry as a core technology to enable the full potential of beyond 3G systems. It has the potential to revolutionize wireless just as the PC revolutionized computing.

End-to-End Reconfigurability: Enabler of the Seamless Experience

Within E2R, innovative research, development and proof of concept are sought in an end-to-end aspect, stretching from user device all the way up to Internet Protocol, and services, and in reconfigurability support, intrinsic functionalities such as management and control, download support, spectrum management, regulatory framework and business models. End-to-End reconfigurability systems will provide common platforms and associated execution environments for multiple air interfaces, protocols and applications, which will yield to scalable and reconfigurable infrastructure that optimise resource usage, increased network and equipment capability and versatility by software modifications. The users will benefit from these capabilities by reaching the required service at times and places when and where needed at affordable cost. Furthermore, E2R proposes also to serve niche markets and provide users with special services via customised solutions that are open, flexible and programmable at all layers.

E2R will thus contribute to the realisation of the ambient space through which a modern society interacts and communicates with key capabilities of the radio eco-system and finally actively influence European industrial and economic competitiveness. Standardisation, Dissemination and Knowledge sharing under training instruments will be intensely used to consolidate this influence.

  OTHER RESEARCH PROJECTS @ MOTOROLA

  • Motorola Beyond 3G Program : Within the Radio Access Systems and Spectrum Engineering Lab (RASSEL), I worked on developing the necessary technologies for the light integration of heterogeneous networks into a unified service framework. The "Beyond 3G" (B3G) program aims at enabling quasi-broadband access by means of combinations of existing technologies in the Cellular, WLAN, and broadcast areas. In the overall B3G vision, a very first step is the light integration of heterogeneous networks into a single framework enabling uniformized specification of the transport service regardless the underlying transmission technology.
  • Monasidre, a European Project : I worked on a European project, called Monasidre (Management Of Networks And Services In Diversified Radio Environments). It was part of the 5th Research and Technological Development Framework Programme, of the IST (Information Society Technologies). The project developed, in the context of a diversified radio environment, techniques for addressing the following aspects. Firstly, monitoring and analysing the statistical performance and the associated QoS levels provided by the network elements. Secondly, inter-working with service provider mechanisms, so as to allow service providers to dynamically request the reservation of network resources. Thirdly, performing dynamic network planning as a result of resource management strategies, so as to optimise delivery of services to mobile users under a spectrum limited constraint.

In both projects described above, I contributed to writing the specifications of the systems and platforms. Following these phases, the test-beds developments were completed. For more information on the demonstration of the Monasidre platform at the IST Mobile Summit 2002, visit the official website of the project.
