Vaxholm, the fortress town, is only one-hour boat trip from Stockholm. With plenty of attractive shops, it's really nice to visit during summer. On the small island opposite the town is the Vaxholm Castle. This castle is easily reached by boat form the town. With its strategic location on the main sea route to Stockholm, the fortress was built in 16th century to defend the city from naval attacks. Since the mid 19th century, its military importance has ceased and today, it houses a fascinating museum. Here are some photos with Carmen and George...
